Video Games as a Whole
Video games have had a massive effect on society since the first one in 1973. The market has expanded all over the world and has made billions of dollars. It is estimated to be a 100 billion dollar market and in the United States of America about two thirds of households have at least one person who plays video games regularly. Video games also can have benefits on people who play them such as helping to relieve stress, inspiring creativity, providing mental stimulation, and connecting with others. All these things can improve the lives of video game users and the economy.
Video games have also helped create short term careers such as streaming, content creators, and esports players. Esports are video games that are played competitively for spectators and prize money. Many larger games have very popular esports and have large prize pools for their many tournaments. This can even reach in the millions per person. The streamers have also made a career out of video games as they have a camera that streams a live feed of them playing a video game or other things which people can watch and donate towards. The streamer can then collect that money through their streaming platform and make a career out of it. Content creators are almost the same things, although they post videos of the games that have been recorded and edited down to fit their viewers desires.
